Honestly if Dave wrote these lyrics we'd be burning him at the stake for them.

Quite frankly it sucks . It's a lesser version of War of My Life and after one listen I have no desire to listen to it again. Straight up filler.

This sucks.......he wanted to go back to this, yet he kept the breezy, the breezy is best with the sound of B&R and Paradise Valley.

Example....where the hell is Steve Jordan's grooves!?! Hope the rest of the album is better....

Damn not a fan of the new single at all. Like a mix between popular indie hipster and top 40 garbage. Pretty disappointed. I know it's a single but still..it's kind of boring, doesn't go anywhere and the lyrics leave much to be desired. Maybe it'll grow on me.

I wanna thank you cause I can't stop

You and me together
We can do anything baby
Yes yes

. Dave's written much worse unfortunately. Thank god they were never released as mainstream singles, so luckily only hardcore fans can be embarrassed that they exist...oh wait..you and me was a single, no wonder people look at me like an asshole for listening to dmb

Yeah, that is a pandering single. John Mayer parodying John Mayer. But that dude could fart in a jar onstage and sell it to a girl in the front row.

This song sucks. And I'm not expecting something mindblowing from a single but this is just flat out boring. The music, the melody, bleh. Goes nowhere.

So does this mean Mayer hasn't been influenced for the better by his experience with Dead & Co??

A lot of the other stuff he's posted is wayyyyy better. He put this out to re-hook people as the single. Steve Jordan compares the rest to continuum.

I'm not giving up hope on the album. He's posted a lot of clips with ripping guitar. I just feel like this single is selling his talents very short. And again, I fully expect a single of his to be a more radio friendly kind of tune, but jeez dude at least inject some of what makes you good into it.

Yep, and Waiting on the World to Change did just that. It had a groove, it was catchy and radio friendly, and actually had a message to it.

thought it sounded great on Fallon last night.

JM says D&Co has changed his career... [Only registered users can see links.]

Dude amazes me simply because he is so versatile. He has the ability to shred, jam and making true pop songs all while giving zero fucks. Bravo to him!

It's a shame to see Mayer up there with the trio guys and this snoozefest is what he's playing. Really hope the rest of the album is more inspired.

I'm sure it will be. It's just one song. Hopefully it's the worst song on the album. I thought for sure this new album would be more "jammy" especially after the Dead and Co experience. Then again, maybe he got tired of shredding and jamming so much with the Dead that he wanted to take a simpler approach to his album, which is cool and certainly sounds like a possibility.
