I always feel like dave plays Some Devil at 'big' shows when he's feeling confident. I agree its his best solo song, but i always feel like he comes out and plays that when he feels the show was special before it.

Now obviously there are some exceptions, but thats just the vibe ive gotten from it seeing it at shows.

It's good solo, but I enjoyed the "full band" versions where Rashawn played muted trumpet.

I agree with this 100%, and funny you mention that because I've noticed the same thing. It seems it only gets played when the show was killer, and the setlist was somewhat "special". I also agree it's one of the best Dave solo songs in the catalog, if not THE best.

Doesn't last night's set kind of kill this theory? That was hardly a special set/show.

I've also been to plenty of regular shows where he's played it.

I honestly think they thought SPAC N1 was special. They busted out Joyride which took some level of work and they busted out a new cover (AC/DC / Staying Alive). Im not saying it actually was special, but just watching the video last night Dave had a grin on his face all night like "im really bringing it tonight".

I also mentioned i think it takes confidence to sing that one, so if his voice sucks or hes just in a kinda ehh mood he doesnt really play it. I've definitely seen it at some less than memorable shows, but he always seems to nail singing this one.

There are exceptions of course, it's not always at a special show..but I'd say 90% of the time you get it at SPAC, Gorge, Camden, Alpine..the venues that are generally given "hardcore" treatment or "special" treatment.

I’ve gotten Some Devil in Toronto (2014) and Buffalo (2010). Both shows were great, but I still don’t think I agree with this theory.

All those venues you mentioned are multi night stands. Even dave knows he can’t play sister everynight.

True, they could easily have just came out 1 song encore, or do “Oh” , 2 song combo etc. There’s plenty of options, seems more often when there’s a Dave E1 solo (matter what the song) Dave is feeling it, because there’s no real pattern to it.

I really wish this would come back. These were a lot of fun and broke the week up with at least something that felt like getting a live show.

I have hope that they will bring these back in the Spring/Summer since there won't likely be any live shows until Fall if we are lucky.

Agreed, thought the same thing. Felt like something at least semi-special to look forward to each week.

I too wish they would come back, but i appreciated the break. It felt like every week was a bit too much and although i thought the 2nd half of shows were much stronger than the 1st half, it felt a bit of a chore especially when Sirius was releasing new shows at the same time too.

I thought they'd come back with arena shows for the Fall, but I guess I was wrong. We got the Warehouse session though, which is good.

It would be nice if they surprised us with something on Christmas. But not getting my hopes up. I imagine a lot of artists and brands out there will be putting up surprise releases/offerings on Christmas this year especially.
