Sounds like you've been playing long enough to know not everyone cares about showing off theoretical knowledge and they mostly play like they learned to or how it feels right to them. Dave is a songwriter more so than a guitarist. He's not shy about that. I think the disorder thing is more evident in pointing all of this out to a group of people that were or are fans of this weird guy that plays the guitar like a weirdo in thread dedicated to EXACTLY HOW HE DOES IT.

I think what i’d be most interested in seeing is a Roi solo tabbed out for lead guitar. Every note would be annoying to do i’d imagine. Maybe it could be described through generally where he is on the root scale, some scale positions that work, and a few of the more notable riffs tabbed out.

Like Roi’s last Loving Wings @ Gorge, for instance.
or even his classic arrangement parts like LLD or Ditch

never could quite get that bend in the WWYS riff, so i just became accustomed to doing a little 2-3-2 hammer-on-off instead :shrug

Thanks man! That's what kind of crazy to me about Dave Matthews songs in general, I don't listen to DMB anything like I used to, but the songs themselves are still so insanely fun to play.

Always liked this riff. Song gets played alot but I dont think it deserves the hate it gets

Here's a rough overview... without seeing him play it, there obviously could be some things that are inaccurate. but I think this is pretty close to how he's playing it. at 6:57 I am mentioning how to play an a minor chord and I say ring finger on the 5 string 5 fret, that is a misspeak and should have been ring finger on the 6 string 5 fret.

I have no fucking clue... I mean, it's kind of interesting I guess? But I did spend a few minutes wondering about what his thought process was there... I could see where maybe he's in a studio setting (not necessarily working on a dm or dmb project, maybe just hanging out on some other artist's recording sessions) and picks up a guitar and strums it and thinks "what the hell is this tuning" ... the producer says "oh, that's open Eminor" so he sits down with it for a while and riffs out this idea that he brings into his own studio sessions in '00.

It's odd to me that he didn't come up with a few more songs based around that tuning though... usually when he finds a "non-conventional" instrumentation idea that breaks from his established "normal," it is usually accompanied by a little flurry of songs chasing that newness. ie: raised b, baritone electric, veillette guitar
