Any chance you can post a Shake Me Like A Monkey tutorial? It seems so easy yet I can't for the life of me get it down right.

good stuff.
slightly off topic, but the other day i was just noodling around and i found that Crash Into Me sounds really good played without a pick. i'm not a good finger-picking player by any means, but there's some really natural syncopation that sounds really good. |

This is so much fun. I never spend time on covers but I've always wanted to learn JTR! Thank you!

This is really impressive, I play all of these, but nowhere near as fluid as you. I remember when I first started teaching myself DMB songs I was always caught up on learning and perfecting the chord progressions, but the truth is a lot of Dave's stuff is a bitch to play because:
1) Chords are often unconventional. but even more of a problem... 2) The rhythm and strumming is often really, really difficult. Some songs, like JTR, I can play, but I still don't quite have the strumming/rhythm down. It's like I have this mental block that won't allow my hands to follow the rhythm exactly as he plays it. It's made me want to throw my guitar out the window on multiple occasions. I'll never understand why Dave doesn't get more mainstream love as a guitar player. I know most people focus on solo ability when judging "best guitarists," but I would put Dave's strumming and rhythm ability against virtually any other guitarist on the planet. He's a freak, and trying to get this stuff down exactly right can send you down a rabbit hole of repeated-near-mental-breakdowns. When I go to shows, I spend 80% of it both affectionately and jealously looking at his strumming hand thinking, "Fuck you you fucking motherfucker." He's so good, and you don't realize it until you try to learn a song like JTR or Billies or The Stone with the goal of getting it >99% "right." The vast majority of people that cover these songs are usually like <75% "right," because the other 25% would take them years to really perfect exactly as Dave plays it.
