For me personally, MSG shows I would prefer over this:
1. 12/3/98
2. 12/2/98
3. 12/13/00
4. 12/12/00
5. 10/3/96
I'd slot this one in next just before 4/14/09, but that's close.

Some of the above, admittedly, might be slight attendance bias (I was at most of those, but not at this show).

But I do think this is a very good release and am happy we're getting it.

Agreed. This is a sought after show for many, no doubt.

I agree...at least with the first 3.

Even though we have a decent sbd of 12.13.00 I'd love that show released besides the obvious 12/3. The 12.13.00 was such an intense show for me personally as 2000 was my heaviest DMB show year with 23 shows that summer/winter 12.13 capped off the year nicely

Wasn't it proven through other bands' statements that msg has a release fee?

I really didn’t want to go there but: fuck these people. Nurses make $100k/year with full benefits. I don’t feel sorry for them at all that they might catch a flu that’s not going to do anything to them. Such a stupid opportunity that they’re fully exploiting to jerk themselves off.

Admittedly, I'm excited as hell for this release. But I would like to ask the masses this question. Would this show be as sought after if it didn't include The Godfather? Keep Denson, just not James Brown.

This is not a loaded question at all. I'm just genuinely curious.

Of course not.

This is a really great call for 40. It's never been my favorite show, but it's absolutely a "big" one, and the blu ray for it is cool. I think for the bonus disc, I'd want:

Loving Wings - 12.14 or 12.16
Warehouse - 12.20
Captain - 12.20

Thanks for your input. That sux though. One guest spot on a live trax doesn't make me that excited. Hopefully it translates well and it'll be a thoroughly solid show.

Would this show still be unique without the one thing that never happened another time in the band's 25 year history performed by probably the greatest live performer in the history of music?

Sought after. I never used the word unique. Jackasses need not apply.

Really nothing unique about this girl. But I'm pretty sure she is sought after.

Because unique things aren't sought after? Supply and demand.

You asked a ridiculous hypothetical, and now you're gonna be all defensive if it instead of acknowledging it.

No....but the masses have been clamoring for an '02 release, so why not get two birds stoned at once?

Still a solid 2002 show, a year that's been neglected in terms of releases. Sure you could make an argument for a spring or late summer show, but this is not a bad pick by any means.

Are there any MSG shows that came AFTER this one that anyone would prefer? The contenders are obviously 12/10/05, 9/10/08, 4/14/09, 11/13/10 and 12/17/03 D&F. I don't think anyone prefers any of these to 2002 n2. So, at least we're getting the best MSG show of the past 15 years.

I place some importance on the DVD and bonus disc too. All together, this release really seems like it'll capture a little tour that everyone pretty unanimously has very fond memories of, between the outrage of the ED era and the band's 2005 collapse (which many would argue they never recovered from, given Roi died right when they were recovering).
