lets be honest here.... is it time to start a 'Marriage' thread.

I mean I know there are PLENTY of things to bitch about, ask for advice from 'seasoned' marriage veterans like ole 'no iPods' here, and the like....

This isn't your teenage fanbase of boarders anymore... Surely this is stuff that could use its own thread...

I've thought it before we could use a marriage/family thread, when people want to show off their nnew baby, etc. I just didn't know if I wanted to be that guy to start it

I think we'd all fall in line pretty quickly if the red-lettered, self-proclaimed family man kicked it off.

I mean you could just roll all these posts into one so that you know 5 other guys have already contributed to it...

We were talking yesterday about the need for such a thread. So, here it is. This is now the place to discuss if you: just got engaged (Jason/thememanxx), are expecting a baby (Jonas), Junior just hit a homer in little league and you wanna brag, your Pa is getting released from prison, etc. Maybe you just wanna share a picture of your family, or your hot girlfriend. Whatever it is, here we are.

I may move over some of the relevant posts from yesterday [edit: I moved them over but they appear above this one, based on date]

Oh, it's by no means just this.

Myself and 3 friends have all closed on houses in the last 12 months (amusingly, all within a 6-7 block radius of one another). Among my friends, there have also been 4 weddings, 2 engagements, and another 2 in the process of purchasing rings.

I've been kind of amazed at how abruptly life shifts for just about everyone at ~30.

It's interesting that this thread popped up today, my kid threw up all over the place while getting ready for school this morning.

As for wedding advice, hire people to take care of stuff for you if you can (or use family members). My wife wanted to do it all herself, so she did. During the actual wedding and the reception, she was so stressed out that she absolutely hated the whole thing . . . which sucks considering how much it cost. To this day she hates talking about our wedding and tells everyone to elope or do a small wedding on the beach.

We close on our second house in 2 weeks. As stressful and expensive as it can be, I will never rent again.
