Haynes on Exodus is the highlight of this show... and it's an all around great show.

Since everyone is dying for a 2002 or a 2004 release, I say we pick one from one of those years.

I don't think it deserves a release but if for nothing else it's worth it for this Seek Up. Dave was sick that tour and people who were at this show have said Dave was visibly ill and and fought through the whole night coughing, sweating his balls off, and pale as a ghost. We've heard Dave sound so horrific like on the '06 West Palm webcast, or the '10 MSG show, but fans who saw this show up close have said many times that at a few points during the show Dave looked as if he was going to pass out from dehydration, lack of energy, or maybe a fever. But at any rate he pushed through and the beginning of the show, three songs in, they perform what is still in my opinion a top 10 performance of Seek Up. Butch and Carter during this outro....just listen.

Nice choice Brandon
![]() I have never listened to this show before, but I have been craving a 2002 show lately and your description sounds like it will be an interesting listen. I'm going to jump on this tomorrow. I'll edit the info now. |

Ah, this is the LIOG with Ode to Joy. Very nice
Right off the bat, you could tell that dave was struggling with his voice. DDTW sounded dark because of how he pushed himself vocally.

My first show. Incredible memories from that night.

Another important note about this show is that this is the last full version of "Grey Street".

Hmmm given the recent thread started about closers it'll be interesting to listen to a show that closes with Everyday.

This is probably the first show from the Fall '02 tour that doesn't blow ass. Loving Wings is all sorts of spectacular from this show as well (if I remember correctly it rivals the 12.14 version).

I remember actually really liking the slowed down halloween as a change of pace. It was only a verse or so, but I thought it had potential... especially in a year where dave's voice often times sounded spent.

Finished listening today. to elaborate on my post before.... Real good WWYS and Loving wings. Enjoyed DIDO as well.
Stefan playing a little Halloween in his AATW intro. I liked the slowed down Halloween and then how stefan played a little bit later. Butch's electric guitar effects in AATW are unnecessary. It's been said before, but, Gravedigger Dave solo is really good. Everyday as a closer was just bad. It seemed like forever until Carter came in with the drums for Dave to start singing. Boyd's wah wah pedal wasn't doing much for me here. You could definitely tell that Dave was sick. It actually made DDTW sound darker, because he had to push it vocally. He couldn't hit high notes on Everyday. LIOG (one of my favorites), Seek Up, WWYS, DDTW and Loving wings were my highlight here. Just swap Everyday and WWYS, song order wise.

If there's any night I could re-live again, it's 12/16/02. Every song was a thrill. Feeling chills on half the songs at the show. Even STDH sounded beautiful to me that night. It's amazing what a first DMB show can feel like at the peak of your fandom, and overall discovery of live music.
