I would say it is just a perfect stand. 12/7 should be released and definitely not an unpopular opinion to say it is a better show. I thought it was going to be 50, but dmb camp doesn’t care about that type of stuff.

back when they were both just AUDs to me, I definitely listened to 12/7 more.

The auds were both pretty shitty back in the day. A really nice akg 12/8 eventually came out right before this release. Unfortunately the same never happened for 12/7, I don’t think.

Also craving that rare Pig from the tour. only thing that's a bummer about the show is a truncated recently opener! were that the whole thing, that would definitely elevate it.

Yeah truncated Recently is probably the only downer about that 12/7 show.

Every time i listen to 12/7/98 i think about how loud this crowd is. This might be the loudest DMB crowd in between songs and during the encore, but at the same time they are perfectly quiet during the music.

Many think 12/7 would be a great bookend....it was suggested that 12/7 be released as LT20, LT40 and LT50 and I'm sure that will continue for future release speculation.

Why did they bury Roi in the transition to the outro in the Last Stop on LT1. Mix issues really hurt this release IMO. The show is still top notch, but the shotgun snare and lack or Roi kills me.

Crash and Stay were at their absolute best during that run, and then really just sounded the same on subsequent tours. Again, the things Tim was adding on both songs were totally different. early in the tour, tim had this kind of swelling, delay bit towards the end of Crash that really took the song to a new level. In stay, i've really enjoyed tim adding that organ-like effect (pretty sure it's some sort of modulation mixed with the whammy pedal) to the end of stay. It's pretty unique and makes those versions sound markedly different from what happened afterwards.

Yeah I love Fall '98 Stays.
I have to say though my favorite Stays are from '04. I think they were hitting just the right amount of energy in that outro without overdoing it. The 7/7/04 Stay is just perfect ![]() |

Agree on the '04 Stay's. They were amazing set closers.

The 2003/04 stay’s are my favorite. The ending made it, with butch & Carter doing backup vocals and Roi jamming away. I’m partial to the BOWA bonus, I think Selma 2003.

Pig was played 4 times on the fall ‘98 tour. It was played at the show before my show twice. It definitely hurt. Luckily I got my first one at Foxboro ‘99, and a unique one too.

those are nice moments, but nothing from 12/7 is on the level of Seek Up and Last Stop to me, and if we had 12/7, I think we'd want those more than we'd say, "yeah but we have Pig, short Recently and Crash."

The full Recently from 12/5 with Bela Fleck is where it's at.

You're not wrong. I think the mix killed my perception of 12/8/98
