Was actually just coming to top this thread. Just downloaded Road Trips, vol. 2, no1, the MSG 90's shows. I know, I know, "eewww, 90's dead, kill yourself." But i'm enjoying the mix and performances so far. Look forward to listening to the rest on a nice long run this evening.

That's a good release! I enjoy that run of shows, and the shows with Bruce Hornsby in general. I love the China -> Rider on there, and it's all pretty good. But that run is also generally about where I stop listening. As someone who continued to see shows until '95, I'd say after '91 is where it really goes downhill for me. But even so, there was still a good show here and there until almost the end.

I'll add no shows, but let you know what my handy little calendar states for the month:

07/28: Grateful Dead plays Watkins Glen, NY with 750,000 in attendance, 1973
Ah, yes, thanks for the reminder: the 7/27/73 Watkins Glen Soundcheck should be on my list

Have been on a real weird 90's Dead kick. First there was the Road Trips I bought a couple days back, now I just added DP Vol 17 to my collection (9.25.91). There's something about the bands sound that is so...I dunno, light? Maybe it's Bruce on the keys. I really enjoy his fills and work throughout longer jams. Not much of a Vince fan, though. His voice is almost a bit too high for my taste. Real weird to hear him screeching back up vocals.

This extra Eyes that comes from another show, 3.31.91, is pretty special. Clocks in at over 20 mins, too. Bruce, Jerry, and Phil's playing throughout is especially great. Best band.

Welp, your 1990 buzz is about to be a full-on drunken state of awesomeness.

They just announced a 23-disc Spring 1990 (The Other One) box set.

👍

Nice that this one will be in full multi-track, compared to the first Spring 1990 box being just a 2 track mix-down.

Also nice that this one will finally include the full 3/29/90 show.

Oh....dear.

Even if I were to give my lady the back of my hand, no way she approves this

That being said, what are the chances they just slowly start to trickle out shows, like they did for Europe 72.

Wait! *DIGITAL DOWNLOADS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON RELEASE DATE* Oh goddamn.

I'll be wearing my Spring 1990 shirt cruising the waters of Charleston Harbor today for my birthday. (The top-hatted skeleton in the Stealie logo)

Man, can we talk about how good Morning Dew is off of Europe 72.

Also, I love that sound at 10:55. Goes on for a few seconds. Beautiful. Sounds almost like vocals?

I know the old heads around here are probably staying away from this, but as a new fan, I'll be attending the Meet Up at the Movies tomorrow night to watch some '72 on the big screen. Can't wait.

Meet Up was pretty cool last night. Enjoyed it.

Not sure how I didn't know about this before last night, but I'll be tuning in to this tonight:

Dave's Picks Vol. 11 announced:

Quote:
The Grateful Dead have revealed that Dave’s Picks Volume 11 will be the band’s November 17, 1972 performance at Century II Convention Hall in Wichita, KS. The show—the only Wichita stop of the band’s career—featured a 16-song first set, as well as an almost 20-minute second set “The Other One.” The three-disc set will also include a few select tracks from the Grateful Dead’s November 15, 1972 Oklahoma City concert, including a 30+ minute “Playing In The Band.”

Dave’s Picks Volume 11 was mastered in HDCD from the original soundboards produced by Owsley Stanley. The release will also come with fresh artwork from Tony Milionaire, as well as liner notes from original handbill artist (and then first time Grateful Dead concertgoer) Gary Houston.
