Timís artistic choices are so much better on acoustic than electric. I think a huge part of it is tone though. For some reason Tim likes to use overdrive and distortion on songs that really donít call for that heavy tone. I do Love his watery rotary sound he uses on Shotgun, Ditch and a bunch of other ones. Iíd prefer he go more in that direction on the ďjazzierĒ songs.

I also think if DMB trimmed the fat in a lot of their catalog it would help the shows this summer. Cut songs like Jimi Thing down a lot..only one solo, something like that. I think at this point Iíd rather hear more songs than have a subpar/overplayed one take up 20 min of showtime, especially if itís not Jeff soloomg.

You know that it’s going to be surrounded by stuff like Seven, Grey St, Satellite, YMDT—all the overplayed ones. I hope they try and change OSW up a lot this summer if they do play it a lot. It needs another overhaul.
I agree that the intro makes it so much better, but I still like it. I'm not really bothered by the song like some of you guys seem to be. Honestly, I think Grey street took a bigger hit in 3.0 then OSW.

I'm not as against what Rashawn has added as many on here, but he really sounds terrible playing the high pitched melody on this song. And in general, the rigidity of the horn part is really detracting.

I think Jeff needs to take over almost every single solo. Unless they add Butch, but even then his solos tend to drag on for a bit.

This made me start to like seeing #41 again. I didn't dig on the 15 - 20 minute versions, whatsoever.

I loved the 11/9/10 performance. 8 minutes, short, sweet, loved it. I enjoy the longer versions as well but really liked the cut down performances.

For me #41 peaked in 99-00. Jazzy, open, great solos but didn’t wear out its welcome.

I still enjoy OSW - but I understand the criticism of it. It's a shell of itself.

That song IS dmb. Always loved hearing it at Alpine

This is a great idea for a thread. I've been to other band's boards where they have a "Song of the Moment" thread to discuss individual songs and eventually they covered the whole catalog...

You guys have prompted me to break out the 4/20/02 version of this song which I'm not regretting

Also a great tune, but a number of songs from that era are DMB.

I sure did. I'd take those 8 days a week over the latest incarnation of 41. It's wayyyy too sharp now. And always the same. It needs to be a solo song where it changes dynamic ever night.

41 can go away until they bring out the ol' sax solo.

Bring back the sojourn part again.

We’ll have plenty of time to discuss 41 when I start that thread. Let’s keep this one on point to OSW. I’ll do a new one of these each week. Just listened to this 7.28.94 version of OSW..so good. Like I said I prefer the much slower tempo for this song, but it does sound damn good regardless.

For me, R2T was when I started to explore DMB's deeper catalog outside of their radio hits, and OSW, Jane, Christmas Song, and IBYU were the tunes I kept going back to. I'd say those were the songs that took my fandom to the next level.
