To me ED is on par with BW And AFTW..thereís a few really good songs and a lot of subpar ones. Stand UP is just shitty and isnít considered at all in my account. I donít like the productiOn on ED at all, sounds too polished and nothing like DMB. Definitley prefer BW and AFTW Inc that regard. However, the songs on ED have really aged well lived ave become staples for me. Everyday and So Right are awesome Live and Iím never upset to hear them. WTWE is overplayed but I donít hate it at shows if itís placed right. I love Fool To Think and Sleep To Dream Her live as well especially because they donít get played as much. What You Are is still one of my favorite Live songs to hear too. Even in 3.0 that shit packs the energy..doesnít bother me at all I welcome it whenever. But like the other albums, thereís a bunch I hope to never hear again..like I Did It and Angel and Mother Father.

All day.

There is a sizable gap between BWGK and Everyday though. I like a few Everyday songs but in general, I'm just not a So Right, What You Are, or Fool To Think guy (except for D&T versions and Deer Creek '12).

Big Whiskey
Everyday
Away From the World

Stand Up

Note: I'm in the minority that AFTW is not very strong. ED has more songs I like overall. Weird, I know.

Stand Up is almost unlistenable.

I like Everybody Wake Up and can endure Stand Up the song for some reason. But God. It's so bad.

Some of the songs. I pretty much couldn't give a fuck if I ever heard anything off of AFTW again.

I will say, stuff like YMTD and Bayou live are better than anything live off of AFTW.

Everyday has objectively the worst songs, meaning ones that haven't improved all that much live from the album versions. Minus So Right amd What You Are.

That leaves Stand Up with the overall lousiest selection. But many of them blossomed through roadtesting, like YMDT and Louisiana Bayou. If only they'd put more effort into that album, it'd still be crummy, but you could respect what they attempted.

I give Big Whiskey a major pass. Not only do I like the production more than ED and Stand Up, but the band had a major setback while recording it with Roi's death. Everybody brought their best, including Boyd. Cavallo's production isn't as compressed as Ballard's or empty as Batson's, but it's eclectic enough to make me rank it above those other efforts. A couple odd choices here and there just make me wonder how Lillywhite would've done things. But don't we always think that?

Away from the World is a strange one. The songs are produced with more class than any of these others. But the music doesn't markedly morph enough live to say that Lillywhite was as successful as he was on previous album to have the songs be springboards for great live renditions. Few of the songs make the transition totally, most simply having great live outros, namely If Only, Drunken Soldier and Snow Outside. The remaining basically mirror their album takes. Not a bad thing, but it tells me the album is just serviceable, not a step forward, and also not a step back. In this way, it's slightly above Everyday.

Does this mean Stand Up has shown more promise over the years? I say what became Busted Stuff claims that honor. Static production of mostly incredibly diverse sounding songs when played live.

Does any of this make sense?

By no means do I claim it’s great, I just think the last two albums suck.

It's definite better than both of those albums
