Dreams Of Our Fathers

I don't know why but somehow this song popped up again on my list.
Really haven't heard it for almost 10-15 years?

But to start a normal discussion here. Why does so many people dislike this song? Compared to some stuff they have released since 2005 this one is good.

I mean the rhythm is fantastic. The bridge reminds me of the "Lillywhite Sessions era". Leroi, Dave's wailing, etc.

This is the currently the only song officially released on an a studio album that has never been played live. It was soundchecked in 2001 and 2003
kinda crazy.

I've never heard much hate for this song. It's just not played and therefore not really talked about.

It's pretty jarring to go from LWS BEF to this, sonically.

I really don't care for the guitar. But it's a unique song in the catalogue.

I always thought it was a solid song, unique vocal delivery, enjoy the pace of it as well.

Bingo. That's Little Thing.
Thanks for the info. I was sure the bridge part is a familiar sound.

It oddly bothers me that this band, which is really known more for it's live shows than studio albums, has a song on an album that's never seen even one play on stage.

I actually like this song, too. I'm shocked that they haven't given it a shot with Tim playing the guitar line so Dave can focus on the lyrical side of it all.

The “little thing” bridge is the only thing that keeps me from taking it seriously. Not because it’s a bad song. It’s actually a pretty good song. The “little thing” part is just too much of a placeholder for me to take it too seriously.

exactly... that's my main problem with it. it's like there was an extremely decent idea for a song as far as verse and chorus instrumentation and lyrics went... and then they were like "but what about the bridge" and they just decided to cannibalize a song they probably assumed at the time was just defunct

I feel like it'd be better appreciated if they played it and worked on it a bit through the years. Imagine if You Might Die Trying had never been played live. Woof.

I do think people like it more because it’s never been played and it has that mystique around it. I think the song itself is ok, I like it and would love to hear it live one time, I’d put it in the middle of the catalog somewhere.
