Honestly, the CP one is the only one I like. Because it felt spontaneous and excited. Once it became a consistent thing it felt forced and annoying, and kind of feels like it's what caused everyone to start hating on Jimi. I'm glad the scats have disappeared. The Tim/Buddy jams and different outros have been refreshing. Jimi is underrated now, IMO.

I think he did a little thing before, but the fully extended Scat with band introductions, thanking fire fighters, etc. was a CP thing.

You mean he didn't thank New York firefighters in other cities?

It's been a bit but I thought the scat from LT50 was pretty good and that's an '04 version.

Well no. But i just meant actually using real words and having a message (which is something i think he did until 2006).

That one is pretty weird. Isn't he just talking to himself about not taking a guitar solo?

It's not a show for hardcore deep cuts, but I don't HAVE to have a bunch of those to enjoy a show. There's a shitload of great '95 shows with no deep cuts either just solidly played. And I'd argue at that time Help Myself, Rhyme and Cortez were 100% deep cuts and Cortez was an incredible bust out. They easily could have just played Billies, Satellite or Crash in those slots instead, and chose to throw us a bone knowing full well most people in attendance were not hardcore fans.

Also, a lot of the "deep" cuts the band busted out that Summer sounded pretty bad. Boyd was terrible in June, and stuff like DT, Spoon, Last Stop were all lacking what they had in years prior. If there's a better '03 show, it would be another one from September in terms of performance, and most of those shows didn't dig that deep, but they had hit their stride.

I misspoke... I meant '98! Huge difference

Yeah, that's the one that goes "the wealth of information that can keep you confused and silent is astounding", and then "say what is in your head; that's the only thing that's right, friend", and then "I like the way a butt looks"

A convincing philosophical treatise if ever I heard one.

I used to feel this way when they just did sexy MF Interp at the end. It has gotten significantly worse since 2019. Luckily the one Jimi I got last tour was early on when it was just “fly like an eagle.” I can’t Imagine how bad it drags now with 4 fucking covers attached. Zero need for that. I remember we used to bitch about the same old Sexy MF interp. Now they play entire songs at the end every time. It’s horrible, the song need to be cut to less than 10 min with zero covers attached.

I saw Jimi once last year at SPAC hoping to hear Fly Like an Eagle. The Back in Black / Staying Alive mashup was a fun surprise, and then got Fly Like an Eagle too. After seeing Sexy MF for so long it was a great enjoyable change of pace. It’s only bad when they beat these things into the ground tour after tour. The fact that they already switched it up with Tell Me Something Good is encouraging too.

Iím just sick of these type of covers at dmb shows. If I wanted to hear that, I can go to a local bar. Having about 4 of them attached to a song is really really bad imo. Jimi thing is already not something I want to hear, makes it even more dreadful knowing itís going to take about a 30 min chunk out of the show.

I think those are the big 3 that most non DMB fans enjoy, whereas we all point to DDTW, Granny, Warehouse, SM->TM, etc.
This was true with all my friends in hs and college that werenít into dmb, but man anytime you put on Central Park and you put on Jimi, Cortez or watchtower youíd think they were lifetime fans.
