You can put together a decent comp from over the four nights (which we've all done I'm sure) but I'd never listen to the full run from beginning to end ever again. Too much bad mixed in with the good.

The Blackbird, Two Step, #41, and AB Intro from this are essential though.

Their Blackbird cover was horrid. Dull, goes nowhere, repetitive, and Boyd's Fisher Price My First Mandolin sounds brutal.

Bleh. The curtain with some Christmas lights making a firedancer was lazy as hell.

It's funny reading this thread, and seeing how even the stuff that was generally praised from '05 is now cut down (the RR run, the lighting, etc). At the time, there wasn't a ton of excitement in the community, obviously, but those are the things that got people through. Whether it's that everyone liked that shit too much back then, just trying to like SOMETHING...or that people now have such negative memories of '05 in general that they bash even the good stuff, is debatable and probably varies from person to person.

I love the blackbird and the recently opener is pretty tight as well.

yeah its all about context. if they were still playing sets like that people wouldn't cut down 05 as much.

If they were still playing sets full of Stand Up songs or that caliber, there would be many people left to cut down 05.

if they were still playing 05 sets people wouldn't be negative about 05? I am not being an ass, I am just clarifying.

Eh I liked it. This just goes to show you what a weird run this was though, the opinions about it were very mixed. I happen to really like that #41 but I know there are some people who loathe it.

05 was straight terrible regardless of what rarities got pulled out at RR at the end of the tour. I don't remember anyone ballwashing 05 while it was happening that is now criticizing it...well I remember a handful of people who ballwashed it, but they wax the car of all things DMB generally.

OK it was a stretch to call that Blackbird or #41 "essential" material. Chalk it up to me being not completely awake yet when I posted it

I stand by the Two Step and AB Intro though.

I don't mean to imply that people were ballwashing all of '05...but I do remember people loved the lighting at the time, and a lot of people liked the RR run, called it a "return to form," the best version of SU tunes, etc. It was a great end to the summer, the best run of shows from the whole summer, and so we all clung to it as hope for better days again.

Well, it was the best run of 05. That is true...I don't think anyone would dispute that.
