Yeah, I figured it was a clumsy way of saying he wanted the kiss to ''last forever'' or somesuch idealism.

I didn’t think it was that clumsy. Just a way of saying he wanted to “setup shop in there” and never leave her. Also see “last forever,” or “never wanted it to end.” Perhaps redundant ideas but the sentiment is evident. |

I guess it’s an ok line and yeah I get that. I suppose it’s a nicer sentiment than later songs which moved from thinly veiled reference of eating pussy (Rapunzel) to eating belly jelly (wtf)

Has Dave ever sung those lines in concert on Crash that he did in this video after hike up your skirt? I always skip Crash so I have no idea but it’s pretty sweet.

Noticed that and yes, agreed. But “Catch up with us this summer on, you know, route 96, which isn’t a real road, it’s a reference to the year, dumbass” is pretty funny. Both interviews were strange but the vid as a whole is exactly what I wanted to see. |

Another note about the last interview: It's pretty sad to hear them talking about taking time off for the birth of Stefan's kid since they ended up having to take even more time off a few weeks later because of her death

Roi is beautiful. Jeff is mechanically sound. Let's get that straight. Simply can't see how we can even compare the two on LLD. I've been quite disappointed in Jeff's taste in the DMB approach ever since, (approx) 2012.

Generally I agree with this but I think Jeff has been pretty great on LLD the past two tours or so

I really enjoy the 2018 version on the bonus disc or Warehouse release, I forget which one it's on

Jeff is a technical wizard, hitting all the right notes when he needs to during a song. But man, Roi had a FEELING for any song and what kind of flourishes to use. Jeff has been a worthy replacement, but sometimes he's too polished for my own tastes. |

For sure Jeff is a much more technically sound player and has chops that Roi couldn't even attempt to come close to. But Roi sounds like no one else. When he played you could tell it was him. That's really hard.
To say Jeff can't play with "feeling" is def not true though. He's extremely tasteful on a lot of songs, but he certainly "shreds" a lot more than Roi ever would, and it's just a matter of taste. I think of the bigger problems is really that they don't let Jeff play licks throughout all the songs like Roi would. He stays in a "horn section" on most now. Same with Tim, he's a fantastic guitar player, but his style is very shredder/avant garde at times. He's not a "feel" player like John Mayer, Warren Haynes or a lot of those other blues guys. He's very unique and you either like it or you dont

In fact, In general I find Jeff to be pretty tasteful most of the time. Maybe something like Grey Street isn’t great with Jeff’s style. I think the canned horns and horn battles bother me the most. That is where the music really suffers the most. Plus Tim blaring all the time doesn’t work in dmb. Last edited by DIDO36; 07-01-2020 at 08:08 AM. |
