What a joke. And what a perfect song. Dave Matthews is a fool.

I took some acid last fall and was chilling outside at night by myself for a while glancing at the stars and that song came on. Fucking perfect. That was a great time. It felt like that song just kept on going forever and I was perfectly content with it

I've had that same moment before with Wish You Were Here, Skating Away (Jethro Tull), No No Diggity and Walking on Broken Glass to name a few. Acid and music can be a very powerful combination. Can't touch that shit with kids now.

DMB has pretty much butchered every single Some Devil song, so I'm actually fine they haven't tried Dodo, because I'm afraid their rendition could ruin the song for me. Would be nice to hear Jeff take that ending solo though, so much potential.

That song used to be my favorite song Dave has ever written, and I don't get excited at all when DMB plays it live now. It's more of an "eh". I don't like how Carter attacks the song, it takes away from the intimate vibe that made it so good. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the studio version either...Dave solo or D+T that song is wondrous.

"great" is too strong for this one, imo. To me that ending jam was only cool the first couple of times, then they really started dragging it out and it got dreadful and just too chaotic and full of noise.
I mean, this is just miles and miles better than the DMB version. [Only registered users can see links.]

I definitely thought it was a highlight in '08. Different strokes. Honestly though I wouldn't care if DMB never played another Some Devil song again. Great album, but I've generally never been nuts about songs from it taking spots in DMB sets since I always viewed it as a separate piece of work outside of the band realm.

That Some Devil from the 07 summer sampler disc is money. One of my favorite things Ross has done with the band. People lost their shit when they played it full band for the first time.

08/09 So Damn Lucky is probably my favorite thing this band has done since You Never Know came out.

Agreed. The So Damn Lucky encore closer from Scranton 2010 (whatever # LiveTrax that one was) is one of my top live moments. It just kept going and the band and crowd were so so so into it.

Lighting up a cigar on the porch as Dodo starts up... It's that special time of year where this album hits the spot!

Listened to it while enjoying colorados finest waking around downtown tonight. It's a really good album, but they didn't get stay or leave right. It was kind of jarring.

i need it to be cool to put that album on, but Autumn is perfect for Some Devil.

The 2 things i remember us talking about most when this album came out was the hatred for the clicking noise in Stay or Leave and whether the line in Dodo was passage or passing.
