Guys, they HAVE to replace him with a fill-in.

I understand the prevailing hope here is "just give jeff his solos."

But regardless of him being muted all the time, the violin is still an integral part of the band's sound.

There's no way they go on stage without a fill-in. But if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Is Boyd in MN tonight? I'm guessing he was struggling with the decision for awhile and broke the news to the rest of the band tonight?

I wonder if he's on this album. I kind of doubt it. It feels like he's usually the last one to do his parts.

Not for nothing, but the best indication could've been the new 2018 calendar. Boyd is in like one picture total and it's rather small and you hardly notice it. This has been coming for a long time I feel like.

That would be so weird.

They have to replace him, IMO. The violin sound is integral to the band, and I genuinely can’t imagine a DMB show without it.

Part of me does wonder if this was a mutual decision — his quality of play has been objectively awful for several years now.

There’s no common sense replacement - like Jeff was.

Bela would be too good to be true, I’d rather not see a violinist up there.

Timing is certainly interesting but I'm honestly shocked this didn't happen earlier. He's just a strange dude and has seemed to struggle in recent years. I simultaneously wish him the best and can't help but be potentially excited at the prospects of a legit talent coming in to replace him. Time will tell.

I don’t want a violin-less DMB. Even Boyd at his worst was better than no violin or more squealing Rashawn.

We also have been pretty sure that he just floats in for the shows and rehearses even less than the band. Would be surprised if he even made it to Minnesota at all this week.

I don't know anything about the "pop rock jam music" violin world, if that's even a thing.

Are there any names out there from other groups that would make sense?

Yeah I just said to my wife that I wonder if he just called management tonight and said “fuck this, I’m out.”

Makes sense now why they haven’t been using any actual band photos on Live Nation or promo materials. It’s just been the rhino and elephant.
Damn, tomorrow’s show should be interesting. I mean, unless they actively avoid playing every song Boyd is prominent on which seems impossible.

Ants too..

Pig, Nancies, Seek Up, 41, Graves, Jane, Billies, Jimi, Bayou

That’s a LOT of classic DMB right there that he was an integral part of
