The lyrics of the song actually work with the name "The Rift".

So glad for this thread. Listened to Phish's Rift while mowing the lawn this afternoon. Soooo fucking good. Non Phish heads could get into this album.

I've always loved The Riff. An underrated moody song.

That was the version that made me decide to create this thread. That is phenomenal and absolutely beautiful guitar work. What a gorgeous song.

Way, way more interesting and fun to listen to than Dodo. But to each their own.

Yeah that's insane. In my mind DMB has the "Big 3," but Dave Matthews has the "Big 4." Some Devil is an absolute gem.

Here's a legitimate question: Will Dave ever even play this song again? It hasn't been played at all since 2/4/06 and it was mostly a D&F song.

I honestly doubt it. I think unless he does another "And Friends" style tour there will be a handful of SD tunes that never see the light of day again.

I mean, it's alright. But it's still kind of a piece of shit compared to real DMB songs.

We never thought crazy idea or good good time would get played again. I think really any song is possible with Dave he just never goes that far outside his comfort zone anymore with songs he doesn't play all the time.

This version of Satellite right after is pretty cool too. 100% forgot they ever played it this way.

No one was saying Some Devil is better than DMB's best material. We all know that's not the case. Stand Up is forgettable. Some Devil is most certainly not.
