I'm a huge Up and Away fan. More now than ever. Him not playing it with the band is just another mishap in a career of so many. Guy has the worst taste in his own music.

I like the album version and loved the live versions. Agreed with the comment about the organ playing a prominent role in the song, which is why we don't hear it in any other variations (solo and/or dmb). Always felt like the end jam was neutered in concert. Could've gone on way longer like SDL.

Makes me miss the days when 15-30 song clips came out, one every couple of days, prior to an album release. The clip for Up Up and Away was the very beginning to when the band kicks in. Each tune on Some Devil had its own vibe and I remember this song in particular really exciting me.

Just reiterates that the DMB camp really lost their way in the mid 00's, and by this I mean the management/support side. Wouldn't surprise me to find out that they still employ all these older people who've been with them since the 90s. At some point those individuals skills grow complacent and we're left with the current marketing force. Could be by design as well, put a bunch of yes people around and never feel pushed or challenged. Fucking dmb.

I remember enjoying the d&t version. Also, the version from Crapchester, where Trey interpolates Little Drummer Boy, is the real deal.

I really enjoy the song, but I disagree with the premise. I have a hard time elevating it to the level of dodo etc because of the lack of ambiguity in the lyrics. I agree with whoever said it is a similar to Write A Song (another song I enjoy). Though I feel like WAS is a little more creative. The best DM songs make you think abou them.

Up and Away feels like a purer love song, simpler lyrics, seems to groove more breezily with the music behind it. Although very similar to WAS I think you can tell Up and Away took less effort lyrically, and actually in a good way. It just gets him high.

This in bold. Always loved that version, part of why that was my favorite D+F show to listen to.

Song is good, so I guess it's underrated.

You know, I don't recall ever hearing that. Thanks for sharing it. Sounds really good.

That Satellite is pretty neat, too.

it was an interesting show at the time, first proper D&T show since Some Devil/SU. I remember being excited to hear the SD songs and morbidly curious if they could atleast make any of the SU songs tolerable

Never got the love for Too High to be honest, it does nothing for me. I always liked Up and Away but I wouldn't say it's "most underrated". To me it's just an average song, nothing special but certainly a nice tune and fun to listen to.

I think DMB chose the right songs to play off that album, but Dodo is clearly the main one they need to do...DMB would totally crush that song especially with the current lineup and I could even see Rahsawn playing something tolerable over it.

Trouble was awesome, but I don't think it would suit DMB, that ending Jam to that song is perfect for phish though, the way that song opens up is perfect some Type-II jamming.

I've never heard "The Rift." Is that something D&T debuted this summer?
