it's much more a pulp action crime drama than a depressing cancer story. cancer is sidelined pretty quickly actually, and is just the catalyst for the crime and fucked upedness that follows.

Yea the cancer element is just the beginning catalyst for the shows action. It is barely referenced throughout a lot of the series

they're great. I stopped reading halfway through the third book this summer cause graduating/finding a job has taken up all my time. I just can't believe what a good job they did casting it (except of course the obvious differences in the kids' ages between the book and the show, but I felt that was pretty necessary)

God damn I wish I had HBO. Does anybody know if they're going to release the episodes next day on iTunes/Amazon?

Read the 2nd book after watching the first season, so this will be a bit different viewing experience this time around. I am sure it is going to propel me into reading Storm of Swords.

And for the record:

1. Breaking Bad
2. Mad Men
3. Game of Thrones

premier was good. joffrey's inevitable demise better be gruesome and slow.

any time joffrey gets treated the way he did makes me a very happy man. 3.9 million tuned in for the premiere. pretty awesome number for a premium channel.
