douche.

I never had HBO, and we are catching up on dexter right now, mid 3rd season, so I'm guessing she dies giving birth.

The end to the penultimate episode of Season 1 was insane. I couldn't believe what fucking happened.

Halfway through book number 2, man these things are epic. Takes a time commitment to stay with it, but it's worth it. I can already see a lot of complaining about all the setup that happens in the second novel when they do the show. Amazing amounts of political jostling.

yeah, a show about murders and she dies giving birth, that makes total sense

When HBO released the first footage of “Game of Thrones’s” second season, my passion for the series was stoked to the point that I demanded the show start filming seasons back-to-back, Lord of the Rings-style.

With that in mind, BOOSH and/or KAKOW:

We are now hearing from multiple sources that HBO plans to order both seasons three and four and film them back-to-back (à la Lord of the Rings). It has already been confirmed that A Storm of Swords would be covered in more than one season. From what we have heard, much of the film crew in Northern Ireland has been told of this plan and has been advised to expect nine months of filming next year. [Winter is Coming]

So basically, Seasons 3 and 4 of the TV show will cover third book and carry the televised series into 2014. Most outlets are saying that this won’t become official until Season 2 begins in April, but this is still a step in the right direction. I just wish HBO would stop being coy and greenlight as many seasons as it takes to adapt George Martin’s novels. It’s not like violence and tits are going to go out of fashion in the next five years.

The wife and I are looking for a new show to start. I have the first seasons of game of thrones, sons of anarchy, and boardwalk empire. Suggestions?

All three are worthwhile. Very good shows, all of them.

Agreed that Sons is far less dense than the other two.

I was so tempted to blind buy the first season today on Blu-ray. Can anyone strongly recommend? Even for someone like me who isn't super big on fantasy?

i can't recommend it enough to buy it. i'm in the same boat as you on fantasy stuff. it's entertaining just for the depravity, violence, sex, peter dinklage being awesome, etc. but i find it very hard to follow at times. it's good. not great. basically just an R rated LOTR, so i'd go with how you feel about that series.

plus, there's like 10 better shows you've been stalling on for years now. some you even own (Mad Men)

It's fantastic. Probably the best non-comedy show on television right now. Production values are major Hollywood film release good.

Breaking Bad and Mad Men are both streets ahead of this show (as much as I do like it)

seriously. unless you're a huge nerd, it's no contest. there are numerous shows that are better.

the production values ARE great though and the acting is great. it's very well done, but it's very mouth-breathery.

I've heard Breaking Bad is a great show. Speaking as someone with a parent who is a Stage 4 cancer patient, it just hits a little too close to home for me to actually enjoy it or have any desire to watch it regularly.
