wow. that is hard news to handle. prayers for Roi. he is most of what I love about DMB.

only dmb would be able to replace a core member with an EVEN BETTER musician such as coffin. I love jeff. i think he may be the most astounding musician I've had the privilege of seeing live. the possibilities w/ him on stage are seriously endless.

Exactly. They've always been pretty grounded; I have to imagine that they know he'll be fine, at least from a long term health point of view, or they would have cancelled the tour immediately.

Broken ribs most likely, but it depends on the severity of course. If they are displaced there is risk of puncturing a lung. Either way, broken ribs are extremely painful, and for someone who plays a wing instrument for a career, we're talking a long recovery to get his proper rib cage expansion and breathing back once they heal. What I'm hoping is not happening is a spinal cord injury or head trauma.

Yea I was all ready to say this is going to be cool/interesting but the "serious condition" really worries me. Man

Sounds like he will be just fine, otherwise they would not be playing a show Tuesday night.

collapsed/punctured lung would obviously be one of the most detrimental to his career, and given 'serious condition' from an atv accident, i wouldnt be surprised

The fact they put Serious condition on the official site, and are not trying to downplay it, lets everyone know this could be a lengthy stay from Jeff
agreed

Thought I'd stick this up here and along with the well-wishers maybe we can also share our favorite Roi moments that we've witnessed or listened to.

One of my favorite moments was Watchtower from 7/9/00. Roi did these quick-step notes and both Carter and Dave looked up at Roi with such smiles on thier faces, and then Carter tried to mimic Roi (as he often does) and it was at that moment that I saw Dave more into a LeRoi Moor solo than ever before.

Also, Boyd's always the one who's known for Blue Water but the 2/4/93 performance was owned by Roi. Some of his most eerie work within a tune is found on this version of Blue Water.

Say Coffin is unavaliable a few nights and they decide to find another sax player, who else do you think would be considered?

The Flecktones and DMB have been keeping a pretty big window of communication open over the passed 4/5 months so it's no surprised they got Coffin so quickly.

Thanks for the sticky! Also, I'd be happy to see if I would be able to deliver something courtesy of TDC to UVA since I'm local. If anyone has any suggestions, please brainstorm here and we can get something together.
