I love every song Dave has written on the 12-string. Dave's taylor particularly sounds great with the rest of the band. I'm tired of so many songs on the baritone. I know he's experiementing..but there's nothing wrong with a great standard 6 string once in a while.

probably... it's definitely easier to write music on an instrument tuned differently than what you are accustomed to playing... when i slap on a capo or play baritone guitars or raised guitars, i hear all kinds of patterns that i dont usually think about in standard tune for some reason.

but cant be tapped out... all the 04 goodies were in standard... with exception to ggt, and they were all bad ass

I'm suprised throughout all these years of playing..Dave has only written one song with a capo..that lasted like 3 months.

Not to be nit-picky but tuning to D is a downtune on all the strings that change from standard tuning E->D B->A

It's a different guitar, with soprano tuning. In relation to the "normal" guitar, it's tuned up to D, not down.

maybe i should change my avatar back to being a guitar (the classic 'i'm smarter than you are when it comes to music' symbol) so that people will be less inclined to question my accuracy when posting about something like a guitar's tuning...

That Ants-esque riff he played on the studio video was pretty damn cool.
