It's alright. I don't think it's anything special. I don't miss it.

This song is a waste of one of Dave's better riffs in the last decade

The way Boyd played over Dave during the intro of the C'ville '06 version was fantastic. Loved that bit, wish it stayed.

It appears as if Tim never took to the song. SPAC 08 was unremarkable. I was surprised they brought it back in 2009.

I'd love to hear what they did with this and Sugar Will in the studio.

Agreed. It's still one of my favorite performances of the song.

Dave has said he hates doing that, once he's finished something, it's over and he really never goes back to listen.

Maybe Boyd just forgot the part. I was listening to an older Crush the other day and forgot he used to play a cool riff during the jam. Gone now

It's a different game if you listen to Boyd play in 2004 and now

You mean like in 2004 Boyd played with DMB, whereas in 2010 Boyd guested with DMB?

You mean like in 2004 when DMB was sounding like DMB, whereas now their music is loud and rockish? How could a violinist work in this setup?

Are you kidding? Have you never listened to Yellowcard?

[/trolling]

I have little problem with the new sound. It works in some places and doesn't in other, but they'll settle down. They lost a member, gained a whole different dynamic with tim and jeff, and they're trying to make their styles work with the band. The way Boyd's playing has regressed in the past few years, him taking a backseat is no great loss IMO

That's great man, you don't like the violin sound anymore, then don't listen to the fucking Dave Matthews Band.

It's amazing people on this board say they like DMB, yet don't like the original sound. It's like saying you guys like Saved By the Bell: New Class better than the original.

you're clearly reading something in my comment that I'm missing... all i said is that if boyd is going to play like a shithead, better to let someone who can play their instrument take the spotlight. In a perfect world Roi would still be alive, Boyd would care enough to play violin again, and Burt Reynolds would still be making movies, but it's not a perfect world, so grow up. Saying you'd rather DMB play their songs the same way they always have, even if they sound like shit... doesn't need a cute analogy, it's just plain stupid.
