Love this. You can really hear Dave's playing. I miss that so much in this song.

No silly interpolations. Just a spacey, ethereal number. Last year's Typicals had some of that magic.

That was pretty nuts. It was also more widespread than that in the lot. Jai Alai RIP.

I'm glad they shelved SMTS > ASTB > Too Much for a few years. It needed a break. I'm also glad they've brought it back this year.

I guess I'm lucky then. I was at that show.

The guy on Sirius JamOn just said he’s got a DMB announcement probably this week by Tuesday. So it sounds like we’ll be getting some shows again.

That’d be great news.

With someone saying something about Carter not meeting Justin and I ever, I saw something on ig this weekend I laughed at.

Carter went golfing in Houston. Not sure if it was the owner or what, but he took pictures with this guy at the range, gave him his personal cell number, and gave him guest passes for the show that night.

I have given up trying to meet the guy as I think it comes off desperate. Been backstage with Henry now 7 times, had their tour manager even ask, and even they haven't been able to get the guy to do anything.

I think he honestly just doesn't care for meeting folks he doesn't know unless it's on his terms, or sticks to a very strict show schedule.

It's just interesting as others have said. I've got a voicemail from the guy and I think that's probably cool enough, especially with the good friendship I've developed with Henry. I literally can't say enough good things about him. He's the hardest worker on the crew and continually makes time for me, so I'm happy.

I just always get the did you meet Carter this time? Nope. And people are just amazed.

My usual thoughts on the situation. People think I should be angry and I'm not. With replicating his kit, I've probably come off weird. I'm not mad, moreso curious.

Do you think that word gets back to him that you post on message boards regarding these experiences?

No clue. I'm sure. I've never wanted to hang with the guy for hours or anything, just a quick thank you for being such an inspiration and show him my kit were really all. I tried to meet him for years and finally was like ya know, he probably is like why does this dude with my kit want to meet me so bad lol

Personally, I think a friendship with Henry trumps the shit out of 5 minutes with Carter. That is a seriously cool opportunity behind the curtain and far more valuable.

It's funny when people like co-workers hear about the almanac or my 120 shows, the first thing they ask is "Have you met Dave?" like that is the ultimate goal. Me standing there super uncomfortable for a few minutes as he goes through the motions of another fan they're meeting and I have a lifetime of thinking that I made Dave think "this is not my type of guy."

Picking a Live Trax and being a part of that process from pulling a tape off the shelf to recommending bonus tracks vs. those aforementioned 5 minutes with Dave? Not even fucking close.

But it's all personal to the individual and if despite someone's amazing experiences that's something they want to check off, then I'm hopeful it happens.

Not speaking anything directly to anyone, just that the default ultimate goal is to have met someone...

Couldn't agree more. My brother is obsessed with Phish and met various members of the band multiple times. Its the pinnacle of fandom for him. He's asked me on more than one occasion, "what would you say if you had the chance to meet Dave?" Each time I respond that I wouldn't even try talking to him. A forced conversation is not my thing, nor would I want to bother the guy.
