Man I can't tell you all how happy this makes me. Chicago's historic Uptown Theatre is going to be preserved. $75M price tag but it looks like it's actually happening. They intend to get started this fall and expect the project to take 2 years.
Long story short. The place opened in 1925 as a movie palace. In the 1970's it turned into a music venue. The Dead, Prince, Springsteen all played there. It's been closed, vandalized and neglected since 1981, save for a few movie/music video shoots. Just look at this place. Would love to see D/T there in a few years. Spoiler:

That’s fantastic. I love seeing beautiful, historic buildings like that get the respect they deserve. That’s a gorgeous room.

Since his death, I’ve been binge watching Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. I’d seen a few episodes before his death, but started watching a few since his death, and now I can’t stop.
The reason I’m posting this is I’m coming to the realization that Bourdain was a sociological genius. Almost a modern day Thoreau under a different medium. I’m floored by everything the man thought and said. He lived on a different plane that the vast majority of the rest of Americans.

I’d never seen that, but it doesn’t surprise me at all. Thanks for sharing.

That sticker is a win win, either you're horny or you're aware of history.
Or both.

So, apparently Michael Porter Jr., Jarred Vanderbilt, and Monte Morris (all NBA players) live in the same building as me. And Kyle Freeland from the Rockies. And word going around the building is Demi Lovato was a short term stay here recently too.
I live in a decent place, but I didn’t think it was so nice that people like that lived/stay here. My mind is blown.

I still don't understand drafting Jarred Vanderbilt. He's hurt and played in 12 games.

I didn’t even know who he was until my neighbor told me he plays for the Nuggets.
![]() I’m working in the lobby of our building and he’s walked by me like 10 times in a walking boot.

Porter Jr. is literally sunbathing by the pool about 100 feet from me (I’m working inside but can see out the windows to the pool). Talk about something I never expected happening in my life.

OMG
So we've had this large group of lawyers staying at my hotel the last week. And almost the entire group is 70+years old They are having their "farewell dinner" because they are all checking out and there is a big band in there playing. They were playing the Andy Griffith theme about 15 minutes ago. I just turned to my coworker and said "I'll be they'll play the matlock theme and then everyone will go to bed" AND THEY JUST FUCKING PLAYED THE MATLOCK THEME!!!
