Honestly the next line is just as perplexing.

But wouldn't it still be better for all parties involved to just buy an airplane ticket? Edit: Whoops, I have it wrong, I thought the line was "unless you were already there". So strike all that. |

Some thoughts after a few listens:
-That Girl Is You and Come Tomorrow are hideous and will be skipped every time I listen to this album. -Here On Out and When I'm Weary are fine little songs, but very forgettable and I won't listen to them much. -Love the music of Come On Come On, but the lyrics hurt the song IMO. -I'll get killed for saying this, but I'd love to hear a full studio version of Be Yourself. I think people here have an irrational hatred for the song because of the gobbles and the association with the Ladies, but it's a funky song with a catchy chorus. -Again And Again is a great fucking song, one of the best of the last decade. Just wish there were more horns and the jam extended longer. -I prefer the 2006 version of Idea of You, but I'm glad this is on the album and the official cut is pretty damn good. The song is quintessential DMB to me. -Can't Stop is actually a decent blues/rock song on here. Kinda dig it. -She is a good rock song, but isn't nearly on the same level as the best songs on here. -I loved Samurai Cop the first time I heard a live version, but it's already getting played out, which is too bad, because it's a good song. -I feel like Black And Bluebird got neutered in the studio, which is a damn shame. They could have done so much more with this tune in the studio. -Virginia In The Rain is so damn good. A return of the jazzy DMB that many of us love. Really great lyrics too-- a mix of melancholy, hope, love, and nostalgia. -Do You Remember might become my favorite song on the album. The feel good nostalgia that this song evokes is so strong that it makes me remember why I fell in love with this band in the first place. Overall, I'd say this is an uneven album, but the highs are really high (and lows are really low). The album has more feeling than AWFTW. You can tell Dave was more into this one. BW was cathartic, AFTW was a bit cold and precise, and this one seems much warmer, for better or worse. The top 5 songs on CT I would consider to be on par with other classic DMB songs, and I haven't been able to say that about an album since Busted Stuff/LWS. This one has brought me back into the fold as a fan, and that's saying something. Thumbs up from me.

So let's try again.
I would dig a hole all the way to ChinaNow, I think this is a fair reconstruction of the sentiment into a more linear sentence: If by digging [a hole to China], I could steal the wind from the sails of the greedy men who ruled the worldOkay, so this works: Unless of course I was thereI'm not really sure why it's worth noting that, (if digging a hole from america to china would take the sails out of the greedy men to rule the world) he'd also be willing to start digging that same hole from the opposite direction if he was already on the opposite end, rather than presumably fly from China to America just so he could dig a hole back to China. Right? |

Holy fuck, are we doing a critical analysis of the "dig a hole to China" DG lyric now??

I said the lyric was dumb. If you think that is "analysis" then sure, you got me.

Posting on a DMB message board isn't a waste of time when you love DMB as much as he does dude.
