Why was it called Bob Law in the first place?

I got attached to Bob Law. Kind of wish they kept it that name.

If DMB is capable of this in 2018 I want more of this and less That Girl is You.

Do I think this is amazing? No. But it gets a lot more right than it gets wrong and it’d be nice if they go this route more (funk, bass-heavy, Dave actually SINGING because this shows that he still can, great airy chorus, fun but not embarrassingly cheesy lyrics, subtle horns and electric guitar, etc). I think this is a really really well produced track, contrary to some. Whomever did this got it right, IMO.

I also don’t mind the fade out, a lot of great songs ended that way.

This is a really, really good studio cut.

Yeah, listening to the proper version, finding the horns cut through a lot better too. Fade outs have always been annoying (“If Only” was a recent one I disliked). But this is well produced.

Agree with you guys. Listening loud on Spotify, I like it much better than the shite rip I played on my computer at work yesterday.

I can't imagine him playing the keys with Buddy there, but who knows.

I love songs that end with a punch rather than a fade-out, but no doubt lots of great ones of course end that way. My issue is not the fade-out, per se, but that it happens right as the horns kick in. Give us 10 more seconds of that before the fade.

I like this. I also like it slowed down over the live version. I always got the feeling it was very sloppy when played live, possibly due to being sped up?

Though not my favorite in 2016, I think this may rise to the top this year. Will be interesting to hear how itís played tonight.

I didn't really spend a ton of time listening to live recordings of this one, so never got attached to what they were doing with it live. This one sounds pretty good to me in the studio.

I wonder when this was recorded because they came out of the gate at Charlottesville with a faster tempo and funkier. Only other complaint I have than what has been mentioned is the vocal is very up front but I'll wait to hear a non-streamed version to see if it's just a limit of the compression. I do like what Tim is playing during the bridge.

But some of the band's decisions make me They speed up Hello Again live and lose it's muscle, they slow this down and lose it's funk.

Yeah, this one has the "space" in it to be jammed out live, and with Buddy in the mix, it could get funky as hell.

Sometimes I wonder if Dave may have had some work done on his vocal chords during the year off (probably not, but just thinking out loud) because he’s really trying to show them off on this record (for better or worse).

Dave could NOT sing this in New Hampshire in 2016. his voice sounded shredded, no idea why he keeps writing songs he cant sing.

Also, i cannot for the life of me hear the lovely ladies. someone said 2nd chorus but i can only hear swells on horns or synth. Dave sings a backup part in the outro and the lead.

Is there a time stamp where its clearly the ladies?

Can't believe I'm saying this about anything DMB 4.0 but wish this had a touch more pace to it.
