Agreed. This is one of the better DMB performances in the last 10 years IMO. Wild they haven't tried this with Buddy.

They did a couple times last year. I don't think it turned out very good.

I never thought they nailed If Only live… they played it way too slow and Dave always struggled to sing it. They just never got it right imo. It’s one of few songs I like off AFTW but it’s just missing something live and it really boring. Carter is also just way too basic on it. Thought he’d spice it up more but it’s probbaly the least interesting song he plays from a drumming perspective

Same was true for Again and Again and Bismarck. None of the future performances ever came close for whatever reason.

I finally listened to one of these versions of it. At least they cut out the 2 extra minutes of a fade-out. But buddy just played ambient chords in the background. Surprising no one did anything in the 2nd half of the song including Tim.

Holy shit. Copperpot put out N2 Camden 04 in pro shot quality and this show is amazing. I’m kinda coming around to this being the last year for dmb.

Listening to it right now. I miss this song (and band) so much.

So do I. 2004 was an excellent year. How they could've gone from that to Stand Up is more baffling than from LWS to Everyday. At least there they were burnt out. And the addition of Ross held promise until it turned out he played the way he does. Then Roi died, and Jeff eventually stopped soloing on certain songs, etc etc etc.

Also, 2004 seems like the last year Boyd was consistently good/great. And the auds were mostly fantastic that year.

I dont think this gets talked about enough, but i think Boyd had some really good moments in 2008 & 2009. there is that famous video of him butchering his parts in Help Myself at the gorge, but i thought he was pretty on for most other shows that year. I think he definitely had a chemistry with Roi that he never built with Jeff and Rashawn because they were either playing off each other or were focused on learning the material Roi played vs playing with boyd.

It was 100% the last full year.

For me, there were flashes of brilliance in early '06, late '07, early '08, early '10 and here and there this past year. But they haven't had a year since 2004. From June 17 to the end of Vote For Change, that was the last real good one.
