Wasted opportunity but thank God this leaked. We're lucky to have it. Always a good listen.

Roi's playing at the end. :upyours

Yup, played it in the car the next morning on the way to work.....that's one time I'll never forget.

7/6/18

Slightly above average set for the tour, energetic performances. Pretty clear sounding stream.

ThememanXX 09-06-2018 08:25 AM

2003: 6/26 & 6/27

Boyd's not great, but he's not as bad as I remember for these two shows. Granted, I'm only though the first few songs of N2, but still.

Jayes 09-06-2018 09:12 AM

I wonder how much awesome work we’ll never hear from these guys. Knowing their taste in their own music.

I’m very thankful LWS leaked but I have to imagine there is some really cool stuff in the vault (and some garbage, too).

I like to think that when they're officially ready to hang it up and embark on a farewell tour, they'll release some old studio gems, at least as a one-time shot/money grab.

I think you’re giving them too much credit. Though I would love to hop on board with your optimism.

#34 studio version.

ThememanXX 09-11-2018 12:58 PM

8/4; 8/5 and 8/6/2000

Might go through each year of the Gorge from here to now. :upyours

ThememanXX 09-11-2018 01:25 PM

Speaking of, LeRoi plays a pretty nice 'somewhere over the rainbow' interpolation toward the end of Lover Lay Down on 8/4/00.

Its some of the most underrated music this band has played. I know its a leak so the masses haven't heard it, but damn Roi and that rawness is just pure bliss.

batleon 09-11-2018 03:15 PM

Cigarette Lit.

Damn, this is another really good one that we shouldn't have gotten but thank God we did. Excellent track. Love the Hold Me Down riff at the end, drives that one home. Makes me wonder if there are more fun tidbits from the Some Devil sessions...

:upyours

From any of the sessions. I'm sure there's so much that they laid to tape that didn't make it much further than literally that, just recording it.

ThememanXX 10-24-2018 02:10 PM

I'm listening to 9/1/07 right now and I'm really enjoying this version of Two Step. LeRoi, Butch and Boyd are all doing a fantastic job and loud in the mix.

gweeps 10-25-2018 07:12 AM

4/6/94. Excellent concert so far. Up to Warehouse. You can hear every member playing their heart out. No cheese. No noise. Just great music from 5 guys.

Bluewater34 10-25-2018 07:45 AM

Spring 94 is one of my favorites.

I sometimes feel that 94 doesn’t get talked about as much on here as say 95, 97 and even ‘00. To me ‘94 is one of the best All time years for DMB. I like it overall the same as 95.. No knock to the other years I’ve mentioned they are great, but ‘94 has this rawness and hunger that you can hear that you don’t quite get from other years. And even earlier years. I also think ‘94 was a great year for Roi.

gweeps 11-07-2018 02:08 PM

Smts --> Astb --> Tm (fake) --> Halloween from 7/12/14

I wish DMB would spice up this segue again.

I just turned on 11/9/96 aka cow palace, where you can shit on the floor! Still one of the most energetic shows Iíve heard.

Great show. I remember that it was broadcast on the radio that Thanksgiving and I sat in my cousins room and taped it off his boombox. I wore that tape out. Also, first time I ever heard Help Myself and ASTB.

I was not there unfortunately. It's a wonderful show from one of my favorite stretches of DMB - but a show that I've skipped over many times in favor of the Gorge, Alpine, Meadows, SPAC, and VA Beach shows.

Agreed....it feels too....acoustic? I always secretly wished they'd have recorded it with Glen Ballard when they did Christmas Song with him back in 2000 or whenever they laid it down for that Xmas compilation.

My only gripe is I wish they had Dave speaking about LeRoi before the Bartender performance.

sean52692 01-21-2019 12:52 PM

And I wish they would have kept in Roi's pennywhistle on Dreaming Tree. That is the most puzzling damn thing ever that it's edited out of the release. Very sad!

Yepppppp and don't forget Carbuncle from a way back around the time of Busted Stuff and LWS

DIDO36 02-22-2019 12:09 AM

listened to 8.6.00 the other day. Its a great show, but damn Boyd is so terrible at this show. The Nancies was a saw fest.

Tambourine Man 02-22-2019 12:18 PM

Boyd does not hold up well at all

Fan#41 02-22-2019 07:16 PM

Speaking of Gorge '00, OSW from 8/5 is one of the more beautiful versions of the song, almost reminiscent of the performance on R2T.

ThememanXX 03-06-2019 10:10 AM

7/8/00 - Foxboro Stadium

Fan#41 03-06-2019 07:17 PM

First half of that show is really good, then it just loses all its luster and flow and excitement. Dave and Carter even mention it to each other the next night (7/9). That Seek Up and WWYS are so strong though.

Thrawn 03-06-2019 07:26 PM

Great Grey Street (one of my favorites) and Bartender, too.

ThememanXX 03-06-2019 07:59 PM

I listened to both nights today, there is some great stuff but man Long Black Veil and True Reflections just suck the life out of the place

Busted Stuff sounded awesome though.

Fan#41 03-06-2019 10:23 PM

They weren't bad performances, but I do agree with a show that had such high energy, it did bring a lull to it, but those two performances definitely didn't hinder the show. It still remains one of the best shows I've seen.

Thrawn 03-07-2019 09:38 AM

I'd really enjoy a release of that two-night stand. Or anything else from 2000, as has probably been noted a million times by now.

Oh absolutely, just didn't do much in the overall picture of the show, kind of brought things down.

Been listening to a lot of '94 and '95 lately, the Spring '94 DMBLives, Blue Note, Live Trax 33, 2/25/95, really enjoying listening to the 5 at the top of their game :upyours

sean52692 04-03-2019 10:26 PM

Say Goodbye 8/4/1999 - Carter is utterly fantastic! A lot of wind on this recording (it was Hersheypark, after all) but the intro is pretty clean and Carter is quite tasteful.

celluloid hero 04-09-2019 09:56 AM

5.11.99 - If I'm being honest, there are some big highlights - the Say Bye is awesome, and Seek Up still smokes, the rest is a bit cookie-cutter early '99, including dreadful Rapunzel botched lyrics. Still not a bad listen. It just doesn't stand out to me like I remember it with the exception of those songs.

This show is such a fun listen, a few flubs and technical difficulties here and there but really solid musically, and there's a really funny bit between Billies and Minarets where the band just starts ragging on each other :lol

batleon 04-10-2019 02:10 PM

7/6/93 Typical Situation with Greg Howard. Roi lights this one up and Greg sounds great on the intro.

sean52692 04-11-2019 05:41 PM

6/19/00

Tons of mistakes throughout the show but an incredible listen with the debuts of the new LWS material. Before Bartender, Boyd asks how the song goes.:lol

The alternate lyrics Dave improvs in #41 are a pretty cool touch.

celluloid hero 05-14-2019 09:21 AM

9/18/2000 - Maryland Heights in prep for my first trip back there tomorrow since these two shows. Probably 9/19 after.

I am almost as uniquely positive and "enjoy what you enjoy" as it gets. But I can't help but think tomorrow's show won't be as good as these two.

I listened to Live Trax 47 on the way up to the Nashville show and well, that was a mistake.

celluloid hero 05-14-2019 10:04 AM

Granted, I would prefer an epic show, I will enjoy myself no matter what's played. First show of the year, it's just nice to see them again, especially outside. I get a bit serious about what is actually played at Creek.

sean52692 05-14-2019 10:12 AM

Tomorrow should be a pretty solid show. I sort of wish I had picked to attend STL instead of Des Moines, but such is life. But since they haven't played Riverport since 2016, Dave will probably pretend like they've never been there and refresh the crowd's memory with a Dave favs mailed in extravaganza.

I've got the same mindset about my one show this year. I'm going to do Bethel....a bus trip, at that. Just going to drink, enjoy the ride and have a good time and not worry about things for a few hours. I haven't seen an outdoor DMB show since 7/4/15.

ThememanXX 09-10-2019 11:40 AM

Someone give me a show suggestion between 2000 and 2007, I'm in the mood for something I haven't heard in a while.

Thrawn 09-10-2019 01:14 PM

Going for a weird pick, I remember really liking 5.9.01. One of the last shows with just the 5 of them, and predictably Everyday heavy, I still listened to it quite a bit. Band seemed really tight.

I'm sort of curious if it holds up now. I started tape trading during the 2001 tour, and it was one of my earlier shows. I might not have had much context. So this could be a terrible rec, but that's what came to mind.

ThememanXX 09-10-2019 01:46 PM

I really got into listening to shows starting with the Fall, 2000 tour. Early 2001 is right in my wheelhouse and I don't have nearly the disdain others do. I'll give it a listen between today and tomorrow and report back, thanks for the suggestion. :upyours

ThememanXX 09-10-2019 03:25 PM

I'm four songs deep, and man, I miss the classic OSW intro and a classic #41, complete with flute and sax solos. Also, it's interesting to hear LeRoi play where Butch normally would on When the World Ends. Not sure, in all my years listening to this band, have I ever noticed it like it's evident here on 5/9/01.

Yeah. I definitely remember that being true. At that point, Two Steps without Butch were much less interesting to me in general, but this one was great.

gweeps 09-14-2019 07:43 AM

The Dreaming Tree // 6.28.08

Goddamn why is this song on the shelf again?

Roi is so smooth with those first few notes. Jeff rarely matches him. This is the best example to me of the difference between the two players. Jeff manages to make those notes busy and Roi just simply plays them. Different styles and that's fine. We couldn't fairly expect Jeff to mimic Roi. He had to somehow find a way to add his own voice to Roi's parts.

gweeps 09-14-2019 08:04 AM

Spoon // 9.14.03

This version is night and day to how the play it now. :\

God, Roi is gorgeous on this.

dmb2much40 09-14-2019 05:33 PM

That is the gold standard Spoon performance.

A lot of good tracks on that disc, my favorite YNK as well.

Thrawn 09-14-2019 08:54 PM

It's a great YNK, but I think the Live 25 version is better. It's so tight, every member of the band is flawless.

sean52692 10-20-2019 11:41 AM

Man, Jimi Thing 9/2/00 has an awesome Dave/Butch jam.
