But I suppose you know more about Albert Pujols than MLB front offices because - well - you're from St. Louis!

it has nothing to do with where i'm from and everything to do with thinking this conspiracy is silly.

It's not.

A lot of players from the DR lie about their age. Wandy Rodriguez, Miggy, Esmailyn Gonzalez, Rafael Furcal, etc. I'm not saying Pujols DID lie, but there are a lot of questions, so I see a lot of risk in signing a guy who could be several years older than 32 for 10 years @ $25 million per year.

Glad Pujols is out of the NL Central.

I'm not going to completely buy into the fact that Pujols will be shitty by the end of his contract. He's an unbelievable hitter. He won't be worth the money obviously.

it's just comforting to know you're a wackjob on more topics than just Dave Matthews.

No matter what his age is, ten years is pretty crazy.

sean52692 12-08-2011 03:19 PM

10 years is loco. :upyours

and they got Wilson too. :lol

Crazy isn't the word. It's stupidity. Sure, they won the bidding war, but they will pay for it in more ways than just than one.

FiddySpence 12-08-2011 03:32 PM

my facebook is blowing up with people wishing his plane crashes and whatnot. seems 'bout right.

For less than John Lackey. :(

sean52692 12-08-2011 03:36 PM

I've heard mixed reactions from Stl fans.

I was kinda on the fence about Wilson, but I think that's a good signing for them.

NiCK (Crush) 12-08-2011 03:40 PM

I'm not big on Wilson.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. MLB teams aren't really interested in signing kids out of the DR if they're over 18. Wandy Rodriguez took on a whole different identity to lie about his age, he became 18 yr old Eny Cabreja (and he's not the only one). It's a theory on why many latino players seem to hit the wall pretty young- Carlos Baerga, Edgardo Alfonzo, etc.

Anyway, 10 year contracts are never a good idea, especially when a guy is already well into his 30's when it begins. This will be a huge albatross for the Angels beginning in about 4 or 5 years.

Stop pushing conspiracy theories!

Everyone who actually follows the sport knows it's extremely common. I'm a Red Sox fan and I'm completely willing to bet David Ortiz is older than 36. Not because I wear a tinfoil hat, but because there's plenty of evidence to suggest agents are pushing this kind of behavior on their players from the DR.

Wilson is fantastic. I think you are underestimating him. Especially when you consider he plays half of his games in Texas. Check his numbers. He is legit.
